 How to improve painting skills? I can draw pretty good (anything but people), and I can paint with pastels, and I can paint my woodburnings nicely but I am having problems with painting. I have bought the Donna Dewberry series and most of the time can do a semi-decent flower, but I want to paint landscapes, animals, birds, clouds, etc. Whenever I try, it comes out... shall we say... cartoonish. Any suggestions? The best way to learn to paint is to go study under a master painter, but if that seemes to expensive and out of reach try taking some workshops in the summer and go to any college and get a teacher, somebody that can creatique your work constructively. Without constructive criticism it is almost impossible to get better. |
